Seminar on Hiddensee Island
The Seminar on Hiddensee Island will take place 8th - 13th September 2024 at the Biological Station Hiddensee of the University of Greifswald.
The topic of the seminar will be the Connes Embedding Problem. Required for a successful participation is knowledge about functional analysis (Hilbert spaces, bounded linear operators, compact operators, etc.) and basics of operator algebras (C*-algebras and/or von Neumann algebras).
The date of arrival for the participants is Sunday, 8th September, in the evening. Typically you go to Stralsund by train and then take the ferry to Kloster. From there the Biological Station is in walking distance. The seminar will end on Friday, 13th September, before noon (so that one can get onto the ferry to Stralsund at noon).
The costs of accommodation and meals will be covered by us. The participants are asked to cover the travel costs on their own, resp. by their home institution. We have only a very limited amount of money left that we can give out as financial support for travel costs.
The meals will have to be prepared by the participants since the biological station does not have any kitchen staff. We will form small groups of "chefs" for each day.
