Data Competency

Learning How to Handle Large Data

Data Competency was a joint project of the institutes for Mathematics and Computer Science and Pharmacy. This project was funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of the Region of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Goal of this project was to improve the competence of students from all subject areas in handling large data sets. For this, novel courses, in particular about the topics "Statistics", "Machine Learning", "High Performance Computing", and "Data Visualization" were conceptualized. Novel courses were on long term anchored in the curriculum of University of Greifswald. The courses were intended for a broad audience that wants to improve their knowledge within a minor field of study. The integration of state-of-the art e-learning methods and tools was an important component of this project.

This project ended in December 2023.
