Learning How to Handle Large Data
Data Competency is a joint project of the institutes for Mathematics and Computer Science and Pharmacy. This project is funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of the Region of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Goal of this project is to improve the competence of students from all subject areas in handling large data sets. For this, novel courses, in particular about the topics "Statistics", "Machine Learning", "High Performance Computing", and "Data Visualization" are conceptualized. Novel courses will on long term be anchored in the curriculum of University of Greifswald. The novel courses are intended for a broad audience that wants to improve their knowledge within a minor field of study. The integration of state-of-the art e-learning methods and tools is an important component of this project, i.e. video recording of lectures, online exercises and online exams will be implemented.
